We’ve got a few quick updates from the Audiovisual Services team at LITS.

Important Phone Number Update

315-859-4120 is now the number to call with any AV questions.  A member of the AV team will answer the phone during business hours, but please leave a message after hours and they will return your call as soon as we can.  If you need to speak with Abbi Tushingham directly, please call 315-859-3120.

MeetUp and Document Cameras in the Classrooms

An easy solution when meetup cameras or document cameras malfunction is to reset them by pulling the power cable out and plugging it back in. Everyone should make this power reset part of their normal class startup routine to save potential headaches later. Graham Espe, AV Sr. Multimedia Systems Technician, made a short video demonstrating how to do this. And you are correct, we normally would not recommend unplugging and replugging cables, but this works.

Remember to Check Zoom Microphone Volume

Before your class begins, remember to double check your microphone volume level in your Zoom audio settings. While in a meeting, click the small arrow next to your microphone icon in the bottom left corner, then select “Audio Settings.” Make sure your microphone volume is set as high as possible, especially if you are teaching from a classroom. The Zoom microphone level is what you need to be turning up, not the computer volume.

That Zoom Doorbell Sound!

To turn off the doorbell sound when someone joins your meeting, while in the meeting or class, open the Participants list, then click on the small “More” button at the bottom of the list with the three dots. Uncheck the option for “Play Sound When Someone Joins or Leaves” and the doorbell will be silenced.
