LITS Acquires Quadcopter

One of the most exciting aspects of working in LITS is experimenting with new technologies. Over the summer LITS purchased a “quadcopter” with Hi-Def cameras to bring about a new way of providing video footage of the Campus and beyond. Even though we've had this device for less than three months we've started discussions with academic and administrative departments to uncover ways this will help them to provide video and still pictures. For example:
- Pictures of buildings to map out fire escape routes
- Video of award winning trees in the Root Glen
- Video footage of the trees damaged in the woods around the rope course and cross country ski trails from past storms
- Collection of mapping data related to faculty and student research
LITS is excited about this new system. Forrest Warner, LITS' Video Technician, produced a short video using the new technology.
