The mission of LITS is to empower students, faculty and staff to use information and technologies to engage in intellectual exploration, make informed decisions, and create and share knowledge.

Collaborating with regional and national consortia, we provide the broadest possible access to information resources to support our academic program and the scholarship of our faculty and students. In an interconnected world, we blend ownership with access to provide everything students need to be successful in their studies. Hamilton’s own physical collection includes over six hundred thousand books, journals and DVDs. Through the ConnectNY consortium (www.connectny.org) we have access to over six million print books for retrieval within two days. Our special collections and archives contain items of unique and international importance.

We create and maintain a first-class technology infrastructure for Hamilton, including wired and wireless networking, technology-enabled classrooms and enterprise information systems. Faculty and students regularly use digital tools for their teaching, learning and scholarship and administrative offices are using technology to move in the direction of paperless operations.  LITS- supported technologies are essential in supporting these uses.

The Burke Library, which is home to LITS, is both a community of serious study and a place to celebrate the accomplishments of our faculty and students. We provide students with both quiet and collaborative study spaces and excellent information and technology resources and services to successfully complete their work.  We believe it is through the excellent information and technology services we provide that our students, faculty and staff will be successful in meeting their goals.  Highly dedicated LITS staff are the essential ingredient for assuring this success.
