Jason Philip Andris '96

Feb. 22, 1974-May. 30, 2018

Jason Philip Andris ’96, an investment fund executive of Far Hills, N.J., was born on Feb. 22, 1974, a son of Stathis Andris and the former Myrna Rattner. He prepared for Hamilton at St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire.

A history major with a minor in economics, Andris was elected to the Phi Alpha Theta history honor society. His true passion on College Hill, however, was the crew team, which thrived and grew during his time as a student and well after his graduation thanks to his philanthropy and dedication.

After Hamilton, Andris earned his M.B.A. at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He spent the bulk of his career, 18 years, as a managing director at Venture Investment Associates, a company founded by his father. There he was a member of the firm’s investment committee and managed relationships with the funds’ managers and limited partners. He also identified and developed new relationships for the firm.

Prior to joining VIA, Andris was an associate in the investment banking group at Robertson Stephens and Co. He was involved in corporate finance as well as mergers and acquisitions transactions, working with many emerging growth companies. Later he served as manager of financial analysis and planning with one of his investment banking clients, Global Vacation Group.

Passionate about land conservation, Andris sat on several boards, including the Lamington Conservancy and the New Jersey Conservation Foundation. He enjoyed rowing, sailing, biking, skiing, and traveling abroad. According to his family, he will be remembered for “his bright eyes, broad smile, mischievous sense of humor, and old-fashioned formality. Always a gentleman, he famously never cursed or wore a pair of jeans, and he always held a special place for adventure, his schools, political thought, and close friends.”

Jason P. Andris died on May 30, 2018, at the age of 44. Predeceased by his mother, he is survived by his father, a former chair of the Hamilton Parent’s Council; a sister, Stacy Andris Skalski ’98; and brother-in-law, Philip Skalski ’99.
