In college recruitment, the well-rounded individual is prized; and among college alumni, the same holds true. Hamilton is fortunate in having many well-rounded alumni, those who, despite busy personal lives and demanding professional obligations, find the time to serve their alma mater in every possible way. You, Al Hartig, exemplify our alumni at their well-rounded best.

An enthusiastic loyalist and a cheerfully willing volunteer, you have tilled the soil in numerous fields on Hamilton’s behalf. In that all important field of fundraising, you have helped plant the seed, nurture the plant, and harvest a rich crop. While the field may vary from season to season, and cover everything from class reunion gift giving to the 175^th Anniversary Campaign, you can be relied upon to aid the effort generously with your energies, your time, and your means.

In addition to your many other contributions to Hamilton programs, such as graciously hosting prospective students in your home, you also lend your presence as a genial and engaging participant. Last year, when Hamiltonians made their first organized trip to China, you and Linda were among the intrepid band, braving the summer heat to show the Buff and Blue banner along the Great Wall. Indeed, such is your dedication that not long ago you even attended a GOLD Group cruise around Manhattan in the absence of Linda, who was recovering from a broken foot sustained in piloting your motor scooter.

Although recently retired as executive vice president of the prestigious brokerage firm of Gruntal & Co., you continue to lead a highly active life. An avid traveler, you span the continents; you also traverse almost daily the highways and byways of Greenwich, CT, aboard your Yamaha. But wherever you venture, and however far or near you roam, our good wishes, and out gratitude, will always accompany you.
