Robert Zoellick, President of the World Bank and ex-officio chairman of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), has appointed Jeswald W. Salacuse '60, P'89 to the ICSID Panel of Conciliators. The appointment is effective for a six year term, beginning Sept. 15. Salacuse is one of ten persons, none of whom may be nationals of the same country, that Zoellick is permitted to appoint under the ICSID Convention.

Hancock Estabrook, LLP has announced that John L. Murad, Jr. has been selected for inclusion in New York Super Lawyers 2011.  This is the fourth year that Murad was chosen for Super Lawyers, a rating service based on peer recognition and professional achievements. Murad is a partner at Hancock Estabrook and a member of the Firm's Executive Committee. His practice focuses on product liability, health care defense, commercial disputes and environmental litigation.

Kerry Coughlin '11 is currently volunteering with the Peace Corps in Moldova. After ten weeks of job, language, and cultural training, she was sworn in on Aug. 17 as an English Education volunteer. She is now living with a host family in the village of Taraclia and teaching the English language to students in grades 2-12.

Vanity Fair has included Eric Kuhn '09 and Thomas Tull '92 in the annual Next Establishment list, which recognizes rising talent in the technology, media, policy, and business sectors. 

Nat Faxon '97 has co-written George Clooney's upcoming movie The Descendants. The movie is an adaptation of the novel by Kaui Hart Hemmings and tells the story of a land baron who tries to re-connect with his two daughters after a boating accident leaves his wife in a coma.  It was featured at Toronto's 2011 International Film Festival and will be released Nov. 18 in the United States.

Head Tennis Coach Jared Luteran has announced that Greg Kreitzer '11 will be the new assistant tennis coach at Allegheny College. The men's team is currently 2-0 and the women are 1-1. Kreitzer was captain of the men's tennis team at Hamilton.  In 2010-11, he was selected to the NESCAC All-Academic and All-Sportsmanship teams and chosen as an ITA Scholar Athlete. He was a two-time recipient of the Hamilton Scholar Athlete Award

Stuart Muszynski '76, president and CEO of Purple America-Project Love® Remember the Children Foundation, will co-moderate a televised debate on "Getting to Common Ground and Greater Good."  The program marks the beginning of Purple America's national Re-Imagine America® campaign, which seeks to the foster core values Americans share regardless of political affiliation. 

Meredith Mileti '83 has published her debut novel Aftertaste: A Novel in Five Courses. The book is about Mira Rinaldi, a New York City restaurant owner with roots in Pittsburgh who must figure out how to hold her life together when she discovers her husband cheating on her. Mileti began writing the story several years ago while she was working on her dissertation and was inspired by her own love of cooking. Recipes she tested herself are included in the book.

The law firm Spilman Thomas & Battle has announced that Sarah Patterson '08 has joined its Charleston office. Patterson will practice in consumer finance litigation and assist with research, pleadings, discovery, and trial preparation. She was most recently a legal research and writing teaching assistant at West Virginia University College of Law.

Spencer Stuart, the international executive recruiting firm, has announced that Isvaldo Perez, Jr. '86 has joined the Dallas officer as a consultant in consumer goods and services and marketing officer practices. He will be responsible for recruiting senior-level executives for clients in the consumer packaged goods, consumer durables and retail industries.
