  • The Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board has named Hamilton graduate John Young '71 to a three-year term ending on September 30, 2011.  Young, currently the managing director at Samuel A. Ramirez & Co. in New York, brings with him a intimate understanding of municipal securities to the MSRB.

  • Photographs taken by Hamilton graduate Alexis Mann '05 are being featured in this month's issue of Sun Magazine.  The Sun, which features black and white photography, creative writing, and poetry, is a competitive medium for both emerging and established artists who endeavor to summon the "splendor and heartache of being human."

  • Henry Nesbitt '43 was recently honored by Mayor Vicky Daly of Palmyra, New York. Part of the ceremony included the presentation of a Hamilton cane, provided by the College. Henry was a member of the Class of 1943, but accelerated through a special program to graduate in 1942 so he could join the navy. After the war he earned his law degree at Cornell and practiced in Palmyra and Wayne County. His Hamilton diploma hangs in his home.  Mayor Daly reports that he is a beloved member of the Palmyra community as well as the Hamilton family.

  • Hamilton College graduate Ryan Mulligan '08 has recently made history when he became the first American Rugby League player to export his talents down-under.  Mulligan, standing just less than 6ft. and weighing 220 lb., recently signed with the South Newcastle Knights in New South Wales as the first in what could become a regular player exchange.

  • Hamilton College graduate Richard Skinner '92 has recently published an extensive article on political partisanship in the latest issue of Political Science Quarterly and is also basing a forthcoming book on the subject.  Skinner, a government major at Hamilton, was also involved in WHCL and the Spectator.

  • Professor of Biology Emeritus Gene Putala will give a Thursday afternoon talk about the rare sprengeri tulip, a self-seeding tulip which has graced our own Root Glen for many years. It remains a mystery how this rare species of tulip appeared at Hamilton, but Professor Putala has several possible theories. Although retired, Professor Putala lives in the area and serves on the Root Glen Advisory Committee. He will share stories about the Root family as well as educate gardners about the beautiful sprengeri which comes into full bloom just in time to welcome alumni back for Reunions!
