Out of small things great things come
Ken Bart, director of Hamilton’s Microscopy and Imaging Facility in the Taylor Science Center, works with Emma Domby ’11 (foreground) and Catie Torcivia ’12 on the laboratory’s FEI Quanta 400 environmental scanning electron microscope and EDAX Phoenix X-ray microanalysis system. An interdepartmental laboratory that offers training and courses in scientific imaging, electron microscopy and X-ray microanalysis, the Microscopy and Imaging Facility provides students and professors with state-of-the-art digital imaging equipment for research across scientific disciplines. Here, Bart notes, students are able to “learn skills that are commonly used in graduate-level research programs as well as industry.”
