Course Description: | This class introduces students to the sculptural and architectural extravaganzas of churches and chapels, theaters and urbanscapes, and palaces and gardens, where two- and three-dimensional media entwined to create perception-altering worlds. Class subjects span works of well-known artists, as well as sites aggregated over time, anonymously-produced spaces and ephemera. In response to these early modern precedents, students will design their own campus installation, bringing the immersive experience to Hamilton college. |
