In most petition cases, you will need to ask a faculty member or two to write an email or a letter indicating support for your plans.

Strong statements of support go beyond simply mentioning that the student is capable of being successful abroad. In addition, a strong statement from faculty indicates how a student has prepared for their study abroad experience, indicates how the courses and academic work abroad would benefit their current academic plan, and may also indicate how the work abroad could be integrated into a current project or a senior thesis. Faculty might also want to include information about any challenges or obstacles that a student has faced and how they have worked to overcome these.

Statements of support should be sent to Global Learning: global@hamilton.edu.

See Petitioning Process to find out what steps you need to take to file a petition.
