Members of the Hamilton College swim team made a big splash at the 8th annual Swim Across America event at Nantasket Beach in Hull, Mass. On July 15, they braved the chilly ocean water, along with U.S. Olympic swimmers, for a one-mile swim to support the David B. Perini, Jr. Quality of Life Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The event raised more than $250,000, with a record number of participants this year.

Swim Across America is a non-profit corporation that runs events from Boston to San Francisco to support cancer research at the country's finest hospitals and institutions.

Head Coach T.J. Davis was joined by Sarah McDermott '04, Katherine Hankowski '05 and the following members of the swim team: Stefanie Capizzi '09, Maura Donavan '09, Tim Kearney '07, Samantha Pitter '07, Eileen Starrett '07 and Christian Warner '07. Brendan Smith, a Clinton High School swimmer who is a member of the College-sponsored Clinton Cudas USS Team, also participated in the swim.

The Hamilton contingent was recognized as one of the most successful fundraising teams, raising more than $15,000 during the event.
