William R. Kenan Professor of Government Cheng Li was quoted in a May 15 Wall Street Journal article focusing on the family connections of some of China's business leaders. He also commented in two live interviews for the BBC on the 40th anniversary of the Cultural Revolution.

The Wall Street Journal article referenced "princelings," the sons and daughters of prominent Chinese leaders who are becoming an increasing force in China's business landscape. Speaking to the Journal's Shai Oster, Li addressed the perception that nepotism was responsible for the success many of the princelings currently enjoy.

The article highlighted ties between prominent members of the business community and their well-connected relatives and pointed out that foreign investors often seek out China's princelings in hopes of gaining some inside connections.
