  • The Contemporary Voices and Visions series at Hamilton College continues the spring series with a Mohawk Valley Dance Partnership presentation of Flamenco Vivo/Carlota Santana on Friday, Feb. 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Wellin Hall. There will be a free pre-concert flamenco demonstration at 6:30 p.m. in room 106 of the List Art Center.

  • Hamilton graduate Daniel Frost '93 has been granted tenure and promoted to the rank of associate professor of Spanish at the College of the Holy Cross.  Frost, who joined the modern languages and literature department in 2002, graduated Hamilton with a major in Comparative Literature and went on to obtain both a M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University.

  • Assistant Professor of Government Ted Lehmann presented "Petroleum and America's Position: Stasis or Decline?" at the International Studies Association annual conference on Feb. 17. Lehmann's presentation drew upon his research on the present position of the United States. He pointed out, among other things, that the Iraq War can no longer be said to be unrelated to oil.

  • James Bradfield, the Elias W. Leavenworth Professor of Economics, held a personal finance workshop outlining student loan management, building credit, investment plans, personal budgets and long-term financial decisions on Feb. 25.

  • Hamilton College travels to St. Lawrence University this weekend for the four-team 2009 Liberty League men's basketball championship tournament.

  • Alan Cafruny, Henry Platt Bristol Professor of International Affairs, presented "State, Capital, and the Transatlantic Security Order: Limits of European Autonomy" at the International Studies Association Annual Convention on Feb. 18.

  • Two Hamilton teams competed at the Finger Lakes Regional Mock Trial Tournament on Feb. 14 and 15. Hamilton placed fourth at the competition and will advance to the next round of competition called Opening Round Championship Series in Easton, Pa. The team included Casey Green '09, Stuart Lombardi '09, Larry Allen '09, Teddy McBride '10, Evan Klondar '11, Andrew Quinney, '11, Antonia Farzan '11, Caitlyn Tuten-Rhodes '12, and Julia Goldstein '12.
