Students in the New York City program continued their culinary exploration of the city with a trip to Little Italy and Chinatown. Titled “Eating the Big Apple: Global Food and Food-writing in New York City,” this semester’s program examines the way globalization, history, and culture contribute to the way we think and write about food.

The 14 students taking part in the New York City Program this spring began their semester with a whirlwind tour of the art, food, history and culture that New York City has to offer. The program, directed this semester by Professor of English and Creative Writing Naomi Guttman, is titled “Eating the Big Apple: Global Food and Food-writing in New York City.”

Students participating in the Hamilton New York City Program visited the Federal Reserve Bank of New York for a guided tour of the museum on Dec. 9. The students learned about the history, roles and responsibility of the Federal Reserve and also took a look at the gold secured in an underground level of the Bank.

Students participating in the New York City (NYC) Program this fall had the opportunity to see what goes behind the world’s biggest social network when they visited Facebook’s New York City headquarters on Dec. 7.

Students participating in the Fall 2016 New York City (NYC) Program attended a speech delivered by Stanley Fischer, vice chair of the Federal Reserve, at the Economic Club of New York (ECNY) meeting in October.

Students participating in the Fall 2016 New York City Program recently visited Stephen Sadove '73 in Manhattan. Sadove, chairman of the Board of Trustees at Hamilton, is the former CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue. He began with a description of his career path then answered questions of interest for the students.

Hamilton students in the New York City Program were fortunate to be hosted by Charlie Mierswa ’84, chief financial officer of the Brooklyn Nets, at the Barclays Center on Nov. 2.

Students in Hamilton’s Program in New York City went to the Bowery Mission homeless shelter/soup kitchen to help unload trucks, prepare and serve food and clean up after the meal on Oct. 26.

Students participating in the Hamilton New York City Program took a train ride to Stamford, Conn., on Oct. 19 to meet Robert Morris ’76, P’16,’17 founder and managing partner of Olympus Partners, a private equity firm.

Students participating in the Fall 2016 New York City (NYC) Program visited the Lower East Side Tenement Museum in Manhattan on Sept. 7.
