  • Hamilton President Joan Hinde Stewart will be honored with the Alumni Council’s Bell Ringer Award at Reunions ’16. The Bell Ringer Award is presented each year in recognition of contributions made to the College, its alumni and the community. President Stewart will retire from Hamilton at the end of the 2015-16 academic year.

  • The 4th annual Ham & Legs Fun Run/Walk sponsored by the Staff Assembly’s Wellness Committee drew 150 employees on a sunny, crisp day Oct.14. One hundred walkers and 50 runners participated in the event that included a walk and a 5K run.

  • On Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015 at 2 p.m., Dean of Admission and Financial Aid Monica Inzer will join Georgia Institute of Technology Director of Undergraduate Admission Rick Clark and former editor and current editor to The Chronicle of Higher Education Jeff Selingo in a webinar sponsored by the Chronicle titled Navigating the New Admissions Landscape.   • Five Hamilton students and Director of Health Professions Advising Leslie Bell recently attended a day-long medical conference at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ.

  • Each September hundreds of paddlers take to the Adirondacks to paddle in the Adirondack Canoe Classic, also known as “The 90-Miler” or just “The 90.” For the past five years a dedicated group of Hamilton students have joined them and this year saw the College well represented with seven boats of Hamilton students entering into the race. Jillian Donze ’17 and Maggie Smith ’17 came in third in the women’s C2 Stock Class.

  • In the email below sent to the Hamilton community on Sept. 11, 2015, President Joan Hinde Stewart announced the death of Editor Emeritus Frank Lorenz. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held in the College Chapel on Monday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m.

  • National Public Radio’s Here & Now news show featured a portion of an interview with Dean of Students Nancy Thompson on August 21 in a segment titled “There Are 3 Ways to Get a College Roommate. Which Is Best?” Thompson discussed Hamilton’s residential life philosophy that learning to live with others is an important part of the residential experience.

  • Angel Mason, associate director of athletics and associate professor of physical education, was selected to represent Division III at the NCAA Leadership Institute held July 11-17 in Pittsburgh. The program gives participants the opportunity to enhance and master skill sets, as well as explore and plan career goals and paths.

  • Kimberly Williams, associate director of the Days-Massolo Center, was selected to participate in the Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop held July 12-18 at Oxford University. The competitive program was presented by Callaloo, a quarterly not-for-profit journal of African Diaspora arts and letters.

  • Director of Research and Instruction Services Lisa Forrest recently published an article in College & Research Libraries News (C&RL News). “Going Analog and Getting Artsy: Programming in the Academic Library” highlighted novel ways that Hamilton’s librarians are supporting the college’s educational goals through programming.
