  • Hamilton College Performing Arts begins the spring semester with a modern dance performance featuring Doug Varone and Dancers, presented by the Mohawk Valley Dance Partnership, on Saturday, Jan. 25.  This and all performing arts events will take place in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts, at 7:30 p.m.

  • Hamilton co-ed a cappella group Duelly Noted is preparing for its fourth annual concert tour over the college’s winter break. The four-day tour will include several performances throughout New York State and Vermont.

  • Hamilton a capella group The Buffers performed in the 33rd annual John Lennon Tribute concert before a sold-out crowd at Symphony Space on Manhattan’s Upper West Side on Dec. 6. The Lennon Tribute, co-sponsored by Theatre Within and Music Without Borders, began in 1981 as a small gathering of artists who wished to honor the memory of the musical icon, and has since grown into a major charity event for the Spirit Foundation, which Lennon and Yoko Ono founded in 1978.

  • The Hamilton College Jazz Ensemble performs their winter concert, “Get Wid It!” on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

  • Hamilton College and Community Masterworks Chorale with Symphoria present their winter concert, Music to Herald the Christmas Season, on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall in the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.

  • Hamilton’s co-ed a capella group Duelly Noted was a big winner at the nearby Turning Stone Resort and Casino on Nov. 17, but their win took place on the stage, not at the slot machines or gaming tables. The group took home first place in Turning Stone’s “A Capella Showdown,” winning $2500 in the competition.

  • The Hamilton College Saxophone Ensemble performed to an enthusiastic audience at the weekly Sunday open mic night at the Tramontane on Lincoln Ave. in Utica on Nov. 17. Selections included “Appalachian Spring/Simple Gifts,” “Eleanor Rigby” and “N’kosi Sikeleli Afrika.”
