The Hamilton College Orchestra presents its winter concert on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m., in Wellin Hall, Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts.
Ubaldo Valli conducts a program that includes Aaron Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo and Gustav Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (“Songs of a Wayfarer”). Gabe Mollica '14, tenor, and Joseph Roy, fiddle, will solo on the Copland and Rachel Calloway, mezzo-soprano, will solo on the Mahler.
Rachel Calloway holds degrees from both The Juilliard School (BM) and Manhattan School of Music (MM). Praised by The New York Times for her “penetrating clarity… considerable depth of expression” and by Opera News for her “adept musicianship and dramatic flair, mezzo-soprano Rachel Calloway has established herself as a versatile and intelligent artist. Her 2013–2014 season includes performances with Ensemble Signal, Gotham Chamber Opera, the contemporary vocal chamber ensemble Ekmeles, the 2013 Next Wave Festival at BAM, Chameleon Arts Ensemble in Boston, the Amernet String Quartet at Bowdoin College and American Opera Projects.
