Associate Professor of Chemistry Myriam Cotten gave an invited seminar presentation at the University of Maryland (Shady Grove) on March 24. Her talk titled “Bridging Structure, Dynamics, and Function in Antimicrobial Peptides: Insights from Studying Piscidin” focused on her ongoing research on how antimicrobial peptides recognize and kill bacteria.

“Manning or Leaf? A Lesson in Intangibles,” a New York Times article that addressed the decision-making processes used in selecting players for professional teams, referenced a study of performance versus pay in the NFL draft conducted by Professor of Economics Stephen Wu and his student Kendall Weir. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution featured an interview with Wu focused on the same study in its Sunday, May 4, edition.

Associate Professor of Chemistry Myriam Cotten is the corresponding author of a paper that was selected as the cover story in the March 5 print edition of the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).

Associate Professor of Psychology Jen Borton presented a poster on Feb. 14 at the 15th Annual Meeting of The Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) in Austin, Texas.

At the invitation of the Rockbund Art Museum, Stephen J. Goldberg presented a lecture and conducted a public interview on July 20, at the museum located in the Bund area of Shanghai, China.

Associate Professor of Chemistry Ian Rosenstein attended the National Organic Symposium from June 25-28 at the University of Washington in Seattle.  This biennial conference, held by the Organic Division of the American Chemical Society, features invited talks on cutting edge research in all aspects of organic chemistry plus several hundred poster presentations.

Irma M. and Robert D. Morris Professor of Economics Derek Jones presented “How employment responds to changes in assets at U.S. banks and credit unions” at the Fourth Euricse International Workshop on Cooperative Finance and Sustainable Development held June 20-21 in Trento, Italy.

Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History Maurice Isserman and his former student Walter Cronkite IV ’11 discussed their new book Cronkite's War: His World War II Letters Home during an hour-long interview on public radio station WOSU’s All Sides with Ann Fisher on May 28. WOSU is based in Columbus, Ohio. The segment was titled “The Way It Is: Life and Times of Walter Cronkite.”

Associate Professor of Anthropology Chaise LaDousa and Hamilton seniors Paige Cross and Anna Zahm presented papers at the Northeastern Anthropological Association Conference.
