  • Hamilton juniors Angel Pichardo and Hannah Strong have been awarded Gilman International Scholarship Program awards for undergraduate study abroad in the spring 2016 semester. Pichardo plans to study in the biomedicine program at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS) in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Strong will enroll at the University of Capetown, South Africa, in the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) arts and sciences program.

  • Biochemistry major Mia Kang ’17 was selected to present her computational biophysical chemistry research on the differential binding kinetics of small molecules to the influenza protein neuraminidase at a special session of the 249th American Chemical Society (ACS) National Meeting and Exposition in Denver. The special session, known as Sci-Mix, brings together the most interesting and important research from each of 25 sub-divisions of the ACS. Kang was chosen as one of 13 presenters out of the 125 presentations submitted to the Division of Computers in Chemistry.

  • A BOCES special education class of New Hartford High School students had the opportunity to test their green thumbs with a visit to Hamilton’s Taylor Science Center greenhouse on March 2. The visit was coordinated by Hillary Joy Pitoniak, greenhouse and invertebrate care technician, with the help of Kara Pintye-Everett ’17, who is a COOP service intern at Madison-Oneida BOCES.

  • “Robert Knight: In God’s House,” a collection of photographs and video by Assistant Professor of Art Robert Knight, is on display Feb. 24 through Sept. 13 at Munson-Williams-Proctor Art Institute (MWPAI) in Utica, N.Y. The exhibition focuses on the adaptation of religious spaces in the Utica area.
