Students from the Hamilton Mathletics team won first place in the annual Snow Bowl competition, edging out teams from Colgate University, Skidmore College and Saint Lawrence University. This year's team score of 98 points is Hamilton's highest score on record (records date back to 1993).

Andrew Dykstra, assistant professor of mathematics, gave a colloquium talk at Northwestern University on March 15. Dykstra's talk described recent work with his Hamilton colleague Michelle LeMasurier and Ethan Coven from Wesleyan University.

Andrew Dykstra, assistant professor of mathematics, recently published an article in Journal d'Analyse Mathematique. The article is joint work with Dan Rudolph and is titled "Any two irrational rotations are nearly continuously Kakutani equivalent."

Andrew Dykstra, assistant professor of mathematics, spoke at Furman University on Feb. 18. His talk investigated examples of chaotic dynamical systems that arise in nature. In addition to finding mathematical models of these systems, the talk focused on using numerical analysis to describe long-term evolution.
