The Red Room Gallery located on the second floor of the Stanley Theatre in Utica, N.Y., is presenting the work of Jake Muirhead '86.  The show opened on January 7 and runs until February 7. Muirhead earned his bachelor's degree in art at Hamilton. He lives with his wife Ginna and their seven-year-old son in Takoma Park, Md.

Almost 50 alumni, family and friends gathered for the "Three Kings Day" celebration at Salsa Catering in New York City. Daniel Garcia '84, the owner of Salsa Catering, not only hosted but also provided all the food, helping to make it, according to Larry Arias '84, who organized the event, an "evening to remember!"

Twenty-five years of art by Richard Lennox '61 will be shown in "A Retrospective Exhibition" at the Gratz Gallery in New Hope, Pa. The show opened Jan. 6 and will run through February 17. Lennox earned a bachelor's degree in French literature at Hamilton. He lives with his wife Stana in Erwinna.

Photographs taken by H. Philip West Jr. '63 will be shown in "Rebuilding Tamil Nadu" at the Chapel Gallery of the Mathewson Street United Methodist Church in Providence, R.I. The show opened on Jan. 2 and runs until Jan. 31. He lives with his wife, Anne Grant, in Providence.

As members of the Hamilton family, giving back is a defining characteristic of who we are.  We contribute as volunteer leaders and donors to the institutions and causes we believe in most deeply.  For many of us Hamilton is central among our priorities.  We give to the College to support curious, motivated students and the professors who teach them.  We give to provide a rich variety of experiences to students inside and outside the classroom.  We give to ensure that Hamilton's doors are always open to the most deserving young people, regardless of their economic circumstances. Ron Torgalski '89 has been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at Nichols School. Torgalski is currently the head baseball coach at the University of Buffalo. At Hamilton he played basketball and baseball and was a member of Delta Upsilon. He majored in psychology and after graduation played professional basketball in Sweden for two years before returning to Hamilton to serve as assistant men's basketball coach from 1991 to 1994. He went on to become an assistant basketball coach at the University at Buffalo and later assistant baseball coach, which led to his being named head coach of the baseball team in 2006.

Jeff Smith '82, DVM, was installed as president of the California Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) during the annual Pacific Veterinary Conference earlier this year.  The CVMA is a membership organization that represents more than 5,600 veterinary professionals in California. At Hamilton, Smith was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and played rugby. He double majored in biology and English Literature before going on to Cornell University to earn his veterinary degree. His father is Dr. Warren Smith '53 and his brothers are Dr. Andrew Smith '85 and Dr. Matthew Smith '87. Jeff and his wife, Sheri, live in Middletown, Calif., with their two sons.

Thomas Meehan '51 has co-written a new musical, Cry Baby, (with Mark O'Donnell) that premieres November 6 through December 16, at the La Jolla Playhouse of La Jolla, Calif.  The Alumni Associations of Los Angeles and San Diego have group tickets for the December 8 show. Alumni and friends of Hamilton College are invited to experience "this hilarious new musical."

During Fallcoming Weekend '07, the Alumni Council accepted by a unanimous vote the Nominations Committee's nominations for Bell Ringer and for the Distinguished Service Award.  The committee also selected a recipient for the College Key Award.

Deborah Forte '75, Hamilton trustee and president of Scholastic Media, Inc. is the producer of The Golden Compass which will be released by New Line Cinema on December 7, 2007. Hamilton alumni and parents will have the opportunity for a sneak preview of clips from the movie and participate in a discussion with the producer as part of a Hamilton event "Storytelling: Infusing Words with Life," taking place at 11:15 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Princeton Club in New York City.
