Twenty-five years of art by Richard Lennox '61 will be shown in "A Retrospective Exhibition" at the Gratz Gallery in New Hope, Pa. The show opened Jan. 6 and will run through February 17. Lennox earned a bachelor's degree in French literature at Hamilton. He lives with his wife Stana in Erwinna.
In the show's exhibition catalogue Lennox is quoted, "Recently, I find my work riding an edge between the commonplace and the preternatural. It is more a mental construct screened through temperament, rather than naturalistic representation."
During his years at Hamilton, Lennox dabbled in art and met his future bride, Stana Taylor. After his junior year Lennox spent part of his summer at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta, Canada where he took courses in French and painting. ... In his senior year at Hamilton, Lennox signed up for a painting class with James Penney, a student of John Sloan and others, and a one-time roommate of Jackson Pollock's.
