I’m First (gen).
From faculty and staff to students, the Hamilton community counts among its members many who are the first in their families to attend college. These staff members — along with faculty and fellow students — will help to ensure that you don’t face challenges alone.
“Being first-gen to me means that I will carve the path for my siblings and the rest of my family for better education and opportunities.
“I would summarize my experience briefly as: a cycle of continuous ups and downs, but not as scary an experience as I believed it would be before I started my time as a student here.
“Attending Hamilton College as a first-generation student allows me to honor my parents’; sacrifice by achieving my professional and academic dreams, which is a tremendous accomplishment.
