Course Description:

Leo Tolstoy reportedly declared Mormonism the “quintessential” American religion. And the LDS Church has reported phenomenal growth in the United States and abroad. But despite its recent prominence in national news and American culture, most outsiders know little about this “American original.” In this class, we will explore the history and contemporary manifestations of the religion(s) founded by Joseph Smith in the nineteenth century.
