Speaker Funding Request
A grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities for the Curatorial Studies Initiative provides support for public lectures related to courses this fall. Funds may cover an honoraria of up to $1,000 and up to $1,250 for additional expenses. Speakers may include scholars, professionals from museums (e.g., art, science and technology, history, etc.), special collections, and/or archives.
Eligibility: Faculty and professional staff
Deadline: October 8, 2024 (for Fall 2024 semester)
Proposals must include a talk that is incorporated into a class and open to the campus community.
Priority will be given to proposals that address the following topics; related topics may also be proposed:
- acquisition and/or interpretation of cultural artifacts, art objects, archival documents, rare books and manuscripts, or scientific data
- questions of provenance and/or ethics of collecting
- preservation and conservation
- exhibition design and installation
- museum education and public programming
Proposed expenses may cover honoraria (up to $1,000), travel, lodging, dinner, or reception (up to $1,250) as per DOF guidelines. The honorarium is determined by speaker activity and credentials.
