The Arthur A. Darrigrand '37 Scholarship Fund
The Arthur A. Darrigrand ’37 Scholarship Fund was established by Joyce L. Darrigrand in memory of her husband.
Arthur A. Darrigrand was a member of Hamilton’s Class of 1937. Following his graduation, he received his LL.B. from Albany Law School and joined a law firm in Utica. His practice was interrupted by Pearl Harbor and his enlistment in the U.S. Army Air Corps. At the end of World War II, Mr. Darrigrand resumed his law practice. Drawn to criminal law, which he found more interesting than contracts, real estate or tax, he eventually sought election as Oneida County District Attorney, a position he held for 10 years. In 1960, he was elected as an Oneida County Judge, where he remained on the bench until age 70, the mandatory retirement age.
Arthur and Joyce Darrigrand were married In Utica in 1948. They had three daughters and one son, Charles, a member of Hamilton’s Class of 1974.
