The Frode '33 and Camille Jensen Scholarship
The Frode'33 and Camille Jensen Scholarship was established in 1993 by Camille Jensen in memory of her husband, Frode Jensen, a member of the Class of 1933, who came to this country as a child from Denmark, worked his way through Hamilton and went on to a distinguished career as a physician in New York City.
Frode Jensen was born in Denmark. He entered Hamilton in 1929, where he was a member of the Emerson Literary Society and the varsity football and track teams. After graduating in 1933, Frode went on to earn his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and, after being discharged in 1946 as Major, continued to pursue his career as a specialist in internal medicine. He became director of Graduate Medical Education at the University of Colorado. From 1950-56, Frode also served as associate dean of the postgraduate School of Medicine at New York University. He died in1973 at the age of 63. His wife, Camille, died in December 2014, at which time the Jensen family requested that her name be added to the scholarship.
