The Milton J. Walters Scholarship
The Milton J. Walters Scholarship was established in 1992 by Milton J. Walters, Class of 1964 and a former Trustee of the College.
Milton “Milt” Walters enrolled at Hamilton in 1960 and became a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He graduated in 1964 with an A.B. in psychology. In 1963, he married Caroline Houck; one of their three children, Greg, graduated from Hamilton in 1988.
Milt credits Hamilton for having “provided an outstanding framework for problem solving in a business career. The education has provided the basis for understanding the issues, developing the solutions and anticipating the results.” Milt worked for several firms in the financial industry, including Smith Barney, Liberty Capital and Manufacturers Hanover. He was managing director of Warburg Paribas Becker from 1965 to 1984. In 1988, he founded Tri-River Capital Group and served as the company’s president until 1997. He currently sits on the boards of several companies, including Sun Healthcare Group, Decision One Corporation and Fredericks of Hollywood Group. He remains a loyal and enthusiastic alumnus, and has served as a trustee of the College.
