The Alan P. Savory Memorial Scholarship
The Alan P. Savory Memorial Scholarship was established in 1984 by Mr. and Mrs. George L. Savory in memory of their son, Alan Savory, Class of 1955.
Alan Savory, president of Savory Oil Co., was born in Binghamton, New York, to George and Antoinette Savory. He graduated from Mercersburg Academy and enrolled at Hamilton in 1951. He was editor of The Spectator and a member of the Pi Delta Epsilon and was inducted into the Pentagon Honor Society. Alan graduated in 1955 with concentrations in economics and English literature. He married Louise Burrough in the Hamilton Chapel that June.
Alan joined his family’s oil and gasoline distribution business, Savory Oil Co., and became its president in 1972. He served as president of the Southern New York Alumni Association and the Binghamton Optimist Club. The Binghamton Chamber of Commerce recognized him as “Young Man of the Year” in 1962. Alan died in 1973.
