The Nye Family Scholarship

The Nye Family Scholarship was established by Daniel T. H. Nye, Class of 1988, and Meagan Knuetter Nye, Class of 1990, in honor of Daniel’s parents, Molly Harding Nye and Joseph Samuel Nye. It is awarded with preference given to first-generation college students.

The Nye Family has ties to Hamilton through several generations. Dan’s mother, Molly Harding Nye, was the daughter of Henry Harding, Class of 1934, and granddaughter of Daniel Burke, Class of 1893, Chairman of the Board and College Trustee for more than 40 years. Molly’s uncle, Coleman, Class of 1934, also served as Chairman of the Board, while her great-grandfather, Henry Harding was a member of the Class of 1876. Molly’s brother, Coleman Harding, also attended Hamilton, and her mother Agnes Burke Harding, received the College’s Bell Ringer Award in 1982, recognizing exceptional service to Hamilton, its alumni and the community.

Daniel T. H. Nye majored in government at Hamilton. During his time on the Hill he was co-captain of the men’s varsity lacrosse team, president of Delta Upsilon fraternity and chaired the senior gift campaign. He went on to earn an M.B.A. from Harvard in 1994. A member of the College’s Board of Trustees, Dan served as CEO of LinkedIn and is currently President/CEO of San Francisco-based Rocket Lawyer, Inc. Dan’s wife, Meagan Knuetter Nye, graduated with a major in English literature and went on to earn an M.A. at Mills College in 1999. She is a teacher at the San Francisco Day School.

Dan’s brother, John, is a member of the Class of 1987.
