The Michael S. White Scholarship
The Michael S. White Scholarship, established in 1999, is awarded in recognition of campus citizenship, school spirit, sensitivity to and positive influence on others, camaraderie and a sense of fun. This scholarship was established by friends in memory of Michael S. White, Class of 1972.
Michael Silva White was born in Chicago, Illinois. He matriculated to Hamilton in 1968, was elected to DT and Pentagon, played hockey, and served as president of the Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. He has been described as an “all-around gentle and warm person” and is remembered as “just plain fun to be around.”
After graduating with a degree in art in 1972, Michael joined Bankers Trust Co. in New York City, where he served as a trust administrator. In 1976, his career plan shifted to the insurance field. He started with General Reinsurance but joined Holborn Corporation three years later, eventually serving as senior vice president.
Michael died in 1997, after a brief battle with cancer. His many friends established this scholarship to honor his great camaraderie and zest for life.
