The Henry C. Estabrook Scholarship
The Henry C. Estabrook Scholarship, established in 2005 through a distribution from the trust of Louise Pike, is awarded with preference given to students studying biology or Latin.
Henry C. Estabrook was born in Syracuse, New York. He entered Hamilton in 1933, joined the Chi Psi fraternity and won varsity letters in both football and track. He served as president of the Student Executive Council, and chaired the Honor Court. After graduating in 1937, Henry earned an LL.B. degree from Cornell University Law School in 1940. He worked at his father's law office until drafted into the military in 1944, where he was commissioned as an ENS in the U.S. Navy. Henry was discharged two years later and began working at Sealright-Oswego Falls Corp. He was promoted to executive vice-president in 1954 and president in 1960. Henry retired from the company in 1967 and returned to practice law until 1972. He was a member of Hamilton's Board of Trustees from 1959 - 1971. He died in 2008 at the age of 94.
