The Syage Family Scholarship
Syage Family Scholarship was established by Jack Syage, Class of 1976.
This Fund was established by Jack A. Syage, Class of 1976, and his wife, Elizabeth, in honor of Hamilton’s commitment to providing need-blind financial aid. Jack graduated with a Chemistry major and was a proud member of the football team, outdoor track and field, and Delta Upsilon (DU) fraternity. After Hamilton, Jack earned a Ph.D. at Brown University, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship at California Institute of Technology.
For more than 30 years, Jack worked in chemistry and business, creating and leading the development of innovative technologies in the analytical instrumentation field. He founded, grew, and sold Syagen Technology, Inc., and has published over 130 papers, delivered 100 invited talks, has over 30 U.S. patents issued or pending, is a Fellow of the American Physics Society, and appears on the list of the Most Highly Cited Chemists. Jack is the CEO and co-founder of ImmunogenX, a clinical-stage company developing therapeutic and diagnostic solutions for Celiac Disease.
Grateful to Hamilton, Jack has been an extraordinarily loyal annual donor every year since he graduated. Believing in the importance of need-blind admissions and in meeting the full demonstrated need of every student at Hamilton, Jack and Liz created a scholarship fund that would support Hamilton students in perpetuity.
Please note: The named scholarships profiled on these pages support the College’s generous need-based financial aid commitment. These donor-funded scholarships help ensure the Hamilton promise of keeping education affordable through meeting a student’s full demonstrated financial need.
