The Kevin W. Kennedy '70 Scholarship
The Kevin W. Kennedy ’70 Scholarship was established in 2011 in honor of Kevin W. Kennedy, Class of 1970, by his colleagues and friends on the occasion of his retirement from Goldman Sachs.
Kevin W. Kennedy came to Hamilton from Princeton, New Jersey. He majored in art and was a member of the men’s varsity soccer and ice hockey teams and Alpha Delta Phi fraternity. Following graduation in 1970, he earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and began a long and distinguished career at Goldman Sachs & Co., retiring in 2011 as a Managing Director and member of the Management Committee. He is currently president and chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Opera.
Over the years, while involved in numerous volunteer and philanthropic endeavors, Kevin has remained heavily engaged with and invested in alma mater. He has generously supported numerous named funds, as well as the enrichment of the College’s physical plant including a leadership gift for the theatre and studio arts building which is named for him and his wife, Karen. Additionally, he has given of his time, serving as president of the Northern New Jersey Alumni Association, as a Board Trustee (Alumni, 1986-90; Charter, 1990-2002) and as Board Chair (1994-2002). In 2002, he was elected as Life Trustee and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Hamilton. A year later, he was named Board Chairman Emeritus.
