The Emmons Family Scholarship
The Emmons Fmaily Scholarship was established in 2006 by John H. Emmons, Jr., Class of 1975, in memory of his father, John H. Emmons. It is awarded with first preference given to students demonstrating financial need from the state of Maine.
John “Jay” H. Emmons, Jr. majored in English and history at Hamilton. During his time on the Hill he was a member of the Chi Psi fraternity as well as the College Choir. After graduation he pursued a career in banking, working as a trust administrator for First National Bank of Boston, eventually rising to President/Senior Partner of Welch & Forbes, also in Boston. When asked of Hamilton’s impact on his life, Jay responded: “The best impact has been the acknowledgement and psychic benefit of attending such a wonderful college with a terrific reputation.” Jay’s son, Nathanial, is a member of the Class of 2007.
