Dear Hamilton Community,
I’ve had many conversations with students, faculty and staff and understand that this is a difficult and emotion-filled week. We are also in the midst of midterms.
I’d like to invite you to join me starting tomorrow morning, from 8-8:20 a.m. for a daily walk together in silence, contemplation, reflection and community.
I’m inspired by my former colleague, Angela Ellsworth, a multidisciplinary artist who is one of the founders of The Museum of Walking (MoW), an educational resource center committed to the advancement of walking as an art practice. As Angela shares, “Walking, whether alone or with a group, moving through space creates connections between people and the environment, as it promotes well-being and enhances creative divergent thinking.”
For those that want to and are free, let’s walk together, without words, without politics – a time to be in one another’s company.
All are welcome. We will meet at the Chapel, walk to the labyrinth, then back to the Chapel where there will be hot chocolate to share before everyone begins their day.
With care,
Steven
