In 2005, to mark the 60th anniversary of the day Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated, the United Nations General Assembly passed Resolution 60/7 designating January 27 as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. 

The campus has been quiet since final exams ended on December 16, although several dozen students remained in Clinton during the break, and many more returned early to practice and compete with our winter sports teams or to prepare for the arrival of our new Jan students.

Today’s observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a celebration of the civil rights leader’s work to promote racial justice and equality and a reminder of our obligation to help fulfill the dream that he articulated on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963.

I can’t tell you how appreciative I am for a more typical and enjoyable semester after several years of pandemic-imposed restrictions.

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Dr. Sean T. Bennett as Hamilton’s Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, effective August 16, 2022.

In light of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, I am writing to affirm Hamilton’s continued commitment to supporting students’ health care choices.

Juneteenth, which last year became a federal holiday, this year falls on Monday, June 20.

In light of Terry Martinez’s retirement at the end of last month, I have asked Associate Vice President for Student Affairs Jeff Landry to take on additional responsibilities as interim dean of students until Chris Card joins us in mid-August.

I am writing to share that Christopher Card will join Hamilton on August 15 as Vice President and Dean of Students.
