Dear Members of the Hamilton Community,

Please join me in welcoming Rev. Y. Trevor Beauford as interim director of spiritual and religious life and chaplain at Hamilton College. He will begin his onboarding at the College next week and be fully in the role for the spring semester.  I remain grateful to the students, staff and faculty who met with Rev. Beauford when he visited Hamilton recently and offered strong support for his appointment.

As a spiritual leader, senior pastor, and experienced college chaplain and assistant dean, Trevor has spent more than two decades facilitating spiritual growth, offering pastoral care, and providing strategic and administrative leadership.

Most recently, Trevor served as assistant dean and director of Student Leadership Engagement and Greek Life at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn., where he also spent one year as interim college chaplain and coordinator of spiritual and religious life. In addition to his 20 years of ministry experience, he taught Survey of World Religions as an adjunct instructor at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C.

Trevor’s work in higher education includes overseeing a multi-faith team that attended to the spiritual needs of students from different faith traditions. He also coached and mentored students, advised student organizations, and developed programs that promoted participation of underrepresented students in spiritual life.

Trevor is exceptionally skilled in strategic planning, mentoring, establishing community partnerships, and fostering inclusive participation in spiritual life. He earned a Master of Divinity degree at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, S.C.

His office will be on the 3rd floor of the chapel, and he asks that I express his enthusiasm for engaging with you next semester. Please join me in welcoming Trevor to our community.

Regards,

Christopher D. Card
Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Life
