Dear Members of the Hamilton Community,
We recently received the tragic news that John Fecunda ’24 died earlier this month.
John was scheduled to graduate with the Class of 2024 as an economics major. Faculty described him as a cheerful and engaged student who would visit during office hours to talk about topics they discussed in class.
John came to Hamilton through Prep for Prep, “a leadership development and gifted education program dedicated to expanding educational access to students of color” in the New York City area. Friends and acquaintances on campus recall his great laugh, friendly nature, and warm smile. Classmates said John was very welcoming and open, and always reaching out to help others enjoy college. John loved basketball, video games, movies, and reality television, and was known to hold streaming parties in the Sadove Student Center. He will be greatly missed.
Even though most students are away from campus during the summer, the resources of the Dean of Students Office, including the Counseling Center and the Student Support Care Team, are available for those who knew John and may wish to speak with someone. On behalf of the College, we extend our community’s deepest sympathies to John’s family.
