Jollof Rice Cook-off

By Jazmine L. Florencio

On Friday evening, the Days Massolo Center (DMC) welcomed students to a much-awaited event - the International Student Services (ISS) Jollof Rice Cook-Off! The event was a huge hit, with a packed house of eager students excited to sample the mouth-watering dishes and vote for their favorite. This time, Cameroon and Nigeria were pitted against each other in a friendly competition to determine who would reign supreme in the battle of the best tasting Jollof Rice. The ISS students, Brandon Ngu and Uriah Adenrian, presented their versions of this beloved staple dish, and students were thrilled to have the opportunity to determine which one was the tastiest. After careful consideration and voting, Nigeria emerged as the winner yet again, with Uriah holding onto his undefeated champion title (The previous competition was in December, 2022 between Nigeria and Ghana). We want to extend a huge thank you to all the students who showed up to support the ISS competitors, and to the talented student chefs themselves for making this event a delicious success! We can't wait to see what the next cook-off will bring, and we hope to see you there!
