Hamilton College is ranked 14th in the Northeast Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) in the latest NCAA Division III rankings released by the organization on Nov. 15, 2005.
Hamilton's Sarah Coleman '08 (Bronxville, N.Y./Convent of the Sacred Heart) is No. 7 in the regional singles rankings. Coleman and Kaitie Donovan '06 (Milwaukee, Wisc./Deerfield Academy [Mass.]) are ranked 25th in doubles.
Hamilton finished the fall season with a dual match record of 5-4, including 2-1 in the Liberty League Championships, as the Continentals defeated Skidmore College in the third place match. Three of Hamilton's four losses were by the narrow margin of 5-4. The Continentals capped the season by finishing second in the 16-team New York State Championships. Hamilton's second place showing is the best in the program's history.
Coleman posted a 16-2 singles record in the fall. She reached the finals of the first flight bracket at the state championships and played in the semifinals at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships.
Coleman and Donovan went 10-5 in doubles play. The duo reached the semifinals of the first flight bracket at the state championships and played in the quarterfinals at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships.
