Visiting Assistant Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies Stina Soderling was the keynote speaker in a Q&A session following a recent preview of the new PBS documentary Not Done: Women Remaking America.
The film follows the last five years of the women’s movement and includes archival and new interviews that connect past milestones to current ones and features journalists, entertainers, athletes, and politicians sharing their insight. Among those appearing in the film are America Ferrera, Natalie Portman, Shonda Rhimes, Gloria Steinem, and Tarana Burke.
The project was the first recipient of Verizon’s $5 million Future Fund created to support new and emerging female talent across entertainment and technology. The preview was hosted by WCNY-TV (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Oasis, a nonprofit educational organization focused on enhancing the quality of life for those age 50 and older.
Not Done: Women Remaking America expands on the PBS documentary series Makers: Women Who Make America that examines the ways women have shaped American over the past 150 years.
