The nationally ranked No. 16 Hamilton College Continentals opened their spring trip with a 15-7 non-conference win over the Babson College Beavers in Clermont, Fla., on Tuesday afternoon.

Hamilton (2-2 overall) scored the first four goals and held leads of 7-2 and 9-3. Nora Klemmer ’17 scored the first two goals of her career and Morgan Fletcher ’17 collected her first collegiate goal as well. The win snapped a two-game losing streak for the Continentals.

Margaret Gabriel ’16 scored two of her game-high three goals in Hamilton’s opening four-goal run. Taylor Ryan '17 scored off the opening draw and Katie D’Antonio ‘14, who also finished with three goals, followed two minutes later.

Emily Brodsky ’14 collected a goal and an assist for Hamilton, giving her a team-leading 11 points on the season and 52 in her career. Casey File ’17 added season-best totals of two goals and three points.

The Beavers (0-5), who were held to a pair of Misha Beatty '14 free-position goals over the first 23:32, scored three of the first five goals in the second half and pulled within 11-6. Rachel Secrist ’15 scored two of Babson’s goals in that stretch before D’Antonio and Klemmer responded with goals to put the Continentals up 13-6. Beatty led all players with five points on three goals and two assists. Julie Baharestini ’14 made 11 saves for Babson.

Lauren Brady ’14 led Hamilton with career-best totals of five draw controls and three ground balls. Ryan, Alice Grant ’14 and Hannah Withiam ’16 picked up two ground balls each. Gabriel and File had three draw controls apiece. Kari Koga ’15 made her first start of the season in goal and earned the win with four saves.

The Continentals face No. 8 Amherst College for a NESCAC game on Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m. in Clermont. Babson wraps up its spring trip against William Smith College on Thursday morning.
