Women's cross country jumps into national rankings


Nationally ranked No. 35 Hamilton College made its first appearance in the 2013 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III Top 35 women's cross country poll this year on Oct. 16.

Hamilton tied for first place out of 13 teams in its own invitational on Oct. 12. The Continentals also finished fifth out of 18 teams at SUNY Geneseo on Oct. 5 and fifth out of 13 teams at Rensselaer on Sept. 20.

Adrian Walsh '16 has led Hamilton through the first half of the season. Walsh has finished in the top four in all four races this year and her time of 22 minutes, 18.1 seconds at Geneseo is believed to be the fastest 6-kilometer performance in program history.

The Continentals host the 2013 New York State Collegiate Track Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 26. The women's race starts at 11 a.m. and the men follow at noon.
