The Alumni Relations Office is updating its presence on the Hamilton Web site.
"We've been reviewing our site and expect to offer new services, greater ease of navigation and more information of value to alumni when the new site is launched this spring," said Executive Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations Bill Brower '84. "Our objectives are to make it easier for members of the Hamilton family to stay connected with each other and with the College."
Brower said a large percentage of Hamilton alumni participate in the College's online community, a percentage that is higher than that for alumni of peer colleges. "The closeness of the Hamilton family is certainly one reason this is true," Brower said, "and alumni also trust us to treat their information privately, to use it appropriately, and to counsel members of the online community to do likewise."
The College takes very seriously that information from the online directory – which is password-protected and accessible only to registered members of the Alumni Association – not be used for "any commercial, public or political purposes, including any form of fundraising."
"There have been some instances where we've had to remind alumni of the terms and conditions that they agreed to when they registered for the online community," Brower said, "but, for the most part, we've had very few problems. Alumni who suspect information in the directory is being used inappropriately should contact the alumni office so that we can look into it."
"The new online community will be a significant step forward for a tool that many alumni already find valuable for staying connected and supporting Hamilton," Brower said. "Expanding its use even more will enable the College to provide additional services, while further reducing costs for printing and mailing."
