Krithika Ravishankar ’22

After her summer neurology research was canceled due to COVID-19, Krithika Ravishankar ’22 decided to broaden her search for internships. This ultimately led to a conversation with Josh Rothstein ’19, founder of Up All Night Music Group, a concert promoting organization.

Ravishankar had met Rothstein when they were both involved in the Campus Activities Board (CAB) at Hamilton in 2019. “I reached out to Josh, and we had a meeting regarding my ideas of how I could get involved, current projects in the works, and what I would work on as an intern. The summer internship funding committee gave me the flexibility to adjust my plans.”

When she first started the internship, Ravishankar primarily contacted high schools and other institutions about hosting virtual concerts and events. She has since also written overviews of events facilitated by Up All Night, including the virtual SHAED and Chelsea Cutler concerts at Hamilton. In addition, she collects information on potential sponsorships and venues for upcoming projects.

Although Ravishankar still plans to eventually pursue a career in biotechnology or pharmacology, she appreciates the opportunity that interning at Up All Night has provided.

“I’m a STEM major, but this venture has allowed me to also explore my creative side, which has been an awesome opportunity to think through my work differently,” she said. Having served as on-campus special events coordinator of CAB, working for Up All Night has helped Ravishankar advance a skillset that she does not often get to practice beyond Hamilton.

“I’ve learned a lot about the ins and outs of booking a show from a behind-the-scenes perspective,” she said. “There’s a lot that goes into [it] from a marketing, logistics, finance, and outreach perspective, to name a few, that culminates in a great experience the day-of after months of work.”

Ravishankar has enjoyed her internship with Up All Night and is eager to continue doing similar work with CAB, even as she furthers other professional interests.
