The world premiere workshop of Things We Will Miss: Meditations of the Climate Crisis was recently presented by Boulder-based square product theatre. The show, developed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Emily K. Harrison, ran for three weeks during July. The collage-style devised work resulted from Harrison’s work with students at Sewanee: The University of the South during the spring of 2022.
Harrison, the show’s producing artistic director, described Things We Will Miss as “a collection of vignettes, songs, and images that explore our relationship to the climate crisis, to the fear and grief we feel.
“The climate crisis is very much a story of our time, one that many of us are trying to make sense of, and so we’re exploring theatrical tools that share the experience, that tell the story, in new and exciting ways,” she noted.
In addition to Harrison, four Hamiltonians were involved in the production. Assistant Professor of Instruction in Theatre Jess Buttery worked on the show as the lighting designer and stage manager, Del Gonzales ’25 and Juliet Davidson ’23 acted in the production, and Irmak Sagir ’24 served as the show's assistant director.
