Pavitra Sundar.

Pavitra Sundar, associate professor of literature, organized a panel for the Network for European Cinema Studies conference in Izmir, Turkey. The panel, titled "Videographic Crises," brought together four video essayists exploring sensory and bodily manifestations of crises in contemporary cinema.

Sundar's own presentation focused on the film Sound of Metal (2019), to challenge assumptions about hearing and its relationship to the body. Sundar also traveled to Yogyakarta, Indonesia, to attend the Asian-Studies-in-Asia conference. There, she presented work from another new research project on a group of Indian musicians' bluegrass experiments.
