Pavitra Sundar.

Listening with a Feminist Ear (University of Michigan Press, 2023), by Pavitra Sundar, associate professor of literature and creative writing, was longlisted for the 2024 Kraszna-Krausz Moving Image Award.

First established in 1985, the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation's book awards "recognise individuals who have made an outstanding original or lasting contribution to literature concerning photography or the moving image (including film, television and new media)."

Awards are made in two categories, Photography and Moving Image, and 10 exceptional books constitute each longlist. The judges applauded Sundar's work for offering a "renewed understanding of the history and critical paradigm of Bombay cinema."

Listening with a Feminist Ear will be displayed alongside other longlisted books at Photo London from May 15 through 19. The shortlist and final award will be announced later in the summer.
