Professor of Religious Studies Heidi Ravven recently presented the keynote address for the international colloquium on “The Role of the Exemplar in Arendt and Spinoza” at the University of Malmö in Sweden. Her talk, “Spinoza’s Ethics of Ratio: Discovering and Applying a Spinozan Model of Human Nature,” focused on Spinoza and moral education.
Ravven also presented talks about her current book project, Remaking American Civil Religion, at conferences this fall. She discussed “Spinoza and the Remaking of American Civil Religion: Insights from the Jewish Political Thought and the New Brain Sciences” in Washington, D.C., at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association, and at the Public Philosophy Network Conference at Michigan State University.
